The Colstrip power plant has made energy at a continuous rate unlike other sources of energy. With coal being a reliable source then the power plant should not have to be shut down. It does emit some harmful toxins into the air according to articles written by Clair Johnson and E&E's Power Plan Hub: Montana but it closing half of the plant can not rely on just that. The energy created from the power plant in Montana does not only supply energy to the state it lies in but the power reaches to the states of Oregon and Washington. Andrew Graham says in his article that lawmakers in Washington state are voting to close two of the four towers but they should really think about where their power is going to come from. Without another reliable source of power in plan then there should be no talk of shutting down two of the four towers at the Colstrip power plant.
